Enjoyed this biography of a biographer. Boswell doesn't come across very well personally--drinking, whoring, neglectful of his dying wife, self-pitying...yet Sisman has great respect for him as a writer and show what a careful writer he was. A triumph for anyone who overcomes procrastination! . Earlier this summer I read Lorrie Moore's latest, Gate At the Stairs--depressing is really too generous a word. She always hooks you in with her zany humor, and then proceeds to do terrible things to children. Don't know if I can forgive her this time.
